PROJECT GOAL:

While maintaining the street character of the Cape Cod, a major transformation of the interior and rear opens this house up to the back yard waterview and allows light to penetrate into the living areas. The removal of a bedroom and bath over the living room allows for a dramatic two story space. The main level is rearranged for family living and an open floor plan, with Master bedroom and study at one end. Upstairs, two bedrooms with a bath flank each end of the living space, connected by the balcony.

PROJECT GOAL:

Extended existing foyer out 4 feet and added large front porch. New siding, upper gable, wider window trim, and stonework enhanced the exterior. Rearranging interior spaces allowed a much larger kitchen, and views and passages between rooms were opened up. Now all spaces are used and brighter, with appropriate storage to hide clutter. The larger foyer gave much needed space at the bottom of the stair and better access to coats and powder room.

PROJECT GOAL:

A new waterfront home in Cape St Claire. This house has traditional lines and welcoming spaces. Lots of glass on the water side is balanced with soft light from other spaces to reduce glare and shadows. Rooms flow together and traffic meanders through the angled connector and around the grand foyer. The house was dubbed a “cottage” by the contractor who usually builds huge estate homes.

Updating a classic Cape Cod. New front porch. New Great Room off existing Dining and extensively remodeled Kitchen. New first floor Master Suite. Screen porch with skylights connects all the spaces. House is now perfect for one-level living, preserving the upstairs for visiting children and grandchildren.
